Fire in Colorado Update

Joe Lizura fire in Colorado.  June 27, 2012.  Once again our hearts go out to those in Colorado today where wildfires continue to burn out of control.  Once fire, the Waldo fire is now up to 24 square miles in size after doubling last night.  Here is the link to the story:  http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/colorado-wildfires-evacuations-124631601.html  It appears that the situation will only get worse with strong, hot dry winds and temperatures above 100 degrees again today.  Having been through fires like this, I know how bad things can get.  Hope for the best.

Joe Lizura Fire. June 22, 2012.  The Fire in Colorado continues to burn as firefighters fight to gain control, or at least an upper hand.  The good news is that a second group of residents were allowed to return to their homes after spending two weeks in shelters.  The fire has slowed it's burning during the past 48 hours, but with weather conditions expected to get worse it looks like the fire will once again become a larger threat.  Thus far this fire has burned 189 homes, making it the worst fire in Colorado's state history.  Here is a link to the fire update:  http://news.yahoo.com/crews-seek-upper-hand-raging-colorado-wildfires-130845916.html

Joe Lizura Not Guilty verdict for Roger Clemens

Joe Lizura not guilty for Roger Clemens - breaking news.  June 18, 2012.  Finally some good news for Roger Clemens, as the jury just found him Not Guilty on all six charges being brought against  him by the federal government.  After almost 3 million dollars in tax money and 46 witnesses, the verdict came back Not Guilty.  So now the questions are:  How is the government going to repair his image and who is going to pay back the taxpayers for this fiasco?

The reality is both of those questions are rhetorical and nobody pays back the taxpayers and the government just walks away leaving the impression that Roger Clemens used steroids (or at least lied about using them) and the government just did a bad job of losing their case.  At the very least, let's hope the Not Guilty Verdict results in Roger Clemens getting all of his legal bills and expenses paid back.  And as the article here suggests:  http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/roger-clemens-verdict-not-guilty-six-counts-204828190--mlb.html  It will be interesting to see if he gets into the Cooperstown Hall of Fame on the first ballet - let's wait and see.

Joe Lizura Fired. 10,000 people being let go

Joe Lizura fired.  June 15, 2012.  Nokia is firing 10,000 more employees as their company literally falls apart all around them.  Check out this story http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/nokia-implodes-taking-microsoft-mobile-dreams-down-145151720.html?l=1   It's hard to believe that so many unfortunate events can all happen simultaneously to a company, but they did - along with some poor management decisions.  I remember just a few years ago when Nokia was the cell phone powerhouse, they even had a huge office building a few miles from my home that once employed 2,000 people but now sits empty.
My thoughts go out to all the employees and their families.

Joe Lizura divorce after 115 years.  June 12, 2012.  Divorce after 115 years?  I saw this story on the Yahoo homepage and when I clicked on it I was surprised to see that it was about a couple of tortoises named Bibi and Poldi.  As it turns out, the two are getting a divorce, or should I say a "divorce" as they are now fighting with each other on a regular basis after 115 years of being together.  This is actually a really funny story about these two endangered toroises - check it out at:  http://shine.yahoo.com/love-sex/115-years-together-tortoises-separate-ways-182500381.html  Just the look on their faces is worth checking out!

Joe Lizura Fire Update

Joe Lizura fire update.  Here is the latest on the fires burning throughout the west.  My heart goes out to all those who have lost their homes and those firefighters fighting the fire and that includes local firemen, federal firemen and military firemen - all of whom will spend most of the summer on those fire lines. Here is the lates on the fire http://gma.yahoo.com/massive-wildfires-colorado-mexico-force-hundreds-evacuate-071341300--abc-news-topstories.html  As of this morning, the biggest fires were in Colorado and New Mexico.  In Colorado the fire has burned 30 square miles in the last 2 days.  In New Mexico, the fire has tripled in size.  With the weather being hot, dry and windy it's going to be a rough week ahead.
